The Party People of Temecula: How Ronny and Nikki Built Their Dream (and How You Can Too!)

Meeting Louis and the Story Searchers

Every town has people with amazing stories to tell, but sometimes those stories are like hidden treasures waiting to be found. That is where Louis comes in! Louis is a “story finder” who hosts a special show called What is Your Story?

When he isn’t busy being a detective for great stories, he runs the Service Zoom Marketing Agency and the Temecula Valley Business Network. He loves helping the people of Temecula, California, share their special business journeys with the world. In a recent episode, he sat down with a very special husband-and-wife team to learn how they turned their love for family, food, and fun into a big success.

Meet the Team: Ronny, Nikki, and 25 Years of Togetherness

Ronny and Nikki are what you might call a “super team.” They have been together for 25 years! Their adventure started long ago in a place called Pacific Beach. On their very first date, they sat at a restaurant and Ronny pointed across the street at another building. He said, “I just bought that restaurant!”

Nikki laughed because she thought it was just a silly “bologna” pickup line. She didn’t believe him at first, but it was true! That was the start of their life as “entrepreneurs”—which is just a big word for people who have the courage to start their own businesses.

Meet the Team

  • Ronny (The Stage Manager): In the business world, Ronny is the “Front of House” guy. This means he is the person on “The Stage,” talking to everyone, telling jokes, and making sure the party is full of smiles. Ronny is Italian and Polish, and he even has a secret family spaghetti sauce that is so delicious it can never be duplicated!
  • Nikki (The Creative Studio Director): Nikki is the “Back of House” chef. Think of the kitchen as her “Creative Studio.” She is a bit of an introvert, which means she loves the quiet focus of cooking healthy, yummy food while wearing her headphones and making sure every plate is a work of art.

The “Happy Belly” Days: A Family Business Adventure

In the year 2020, when the world felt a little bit upside down and many places were shut down, Ronny and Nikki had a big “Aha!” moment over a bottle of wine. They decided to start a little sandwich shop called the Happy Belly Deli.

It was a true family adventure! Because schools were closed, the deli became a place for homeschooling. Imagine walking into a shop and smelling fresh bread and tasty meats, only to see three sisters sitting at the tables with their computers doing their schoolwork! Their 12-year-old daughter even learned how to ring up orders on the register. This taught the girls that a “family business” means everyone helps out because they love each other and want to build something great together.

The Four Business Puzzles

Ronny and Nikki realized that people in Temecula needed help with all sorts of celebrations. They didn’t just stop at one shop; they built four businesses that fit together like a perfect puzzle:

  • The Nook: This is their “party house.” It is a special building in town where people can have private dinners or secret surprise parties.
  • Wine Country Catering: This business is on the move! They bring delicious food directly to people’s houses, parks, or even vacation rentals.
  • Temecula Wine Country Events: This is where they help people plan their big days. They give advice and make sure everything is organized.
  • Wine Country Weddings: Ronny and Nikki call this their “one-stop shop.” Instead of just doing one small part of a wedding, they handle the “whole pie”—the music, the flowers, the photography, and the food!

How They Help People Tell Their Story

Ronny and Nikki believe that their job isn’t just about serving dinner; it’s about helping families celebrate life’s biggest moments. Ronny says he wanted to “throw parties for a living” since he was in high school, and now he does!

Their goal is to take all the “stress” away from a mom or a dad who is planning a big party. When a family hires them, Ronny and Nikki are actually there at the event. They want the parents to forget about the work and just focus on making happy memories. Whether it is a wedding or a retirement party, they help every family tell their own special story through a great celebration.

Tips for Future Bosses (Ages 8 and Up!)

Do you want to start a business one day? Ronny and Nikki shared their secrets for turning a big dream into a real business:

  1. Write Down the Vision: Before you start, grab a piece of paper. Draw or write exactly what you want your business to look like. This helps your brain see the goal!
  2. Look for the Gap: Find the “missing puzzle piece” in your neighborhood. Ronny and Nikki noticed that everyone was busy planning weddings, but no one was helping with the “rehearsal dinner” the night before. They found a special job no one else was doing!
  3. Never Stop Learning: Even when you are the boss, you can still be a student. Nikki is even traveling to Portugal to learn all about special plant-based cooking so she can bring new ideas back home!
  4. Give Back to Your Neighbors: Business is about community. To honor Nikki’s father, they built a Little Free Library in front of The Nook. It’s a place where neighbors can share books and stories for free.
  5. Work Hard, Play Hard: Even busy bosses need family time. Ronny and Nikki have a rule: they have dinner together every night with no phones and no “work talk” allowed. Family always comes first!

Your Story is Waiting to Start

On the bedroom walls of Ronny and Nikki’s three daughters, there is a special quote: “She believed she could, and so she did.” This is a reminder that if you believe in yourself and work hard with the people you love, you can build something amazing—just like Ronny and Nikki did with The Nook Temecula.

What will your story be? Will you be a chef, a builder, or a party planner? As Louis always says, asking “What is your story?” is the first step toward finding your own path to success. Go out there and start writing your first chapter today!
